Australian company began geological prospecting in N Kazakhstan rgn

During a working trip to the district named after G.Musrepov Governor of North Kazakhstan region Kumar Aksakalov got acquainted with the work of the mining company "Iluka Exploration Kazakhstan" LLP.

According to Governor’s Office, "Iluka" is a transnational company that is engaged in the search and exploration of mineral sands. It is the largest producer of zircon and rutile in the world.

"In the summer this year, we have met and discussed a plan for the geological exploration in the region", Governor of the region Kumar Aksakalov said.

Director of the company, Tony Thornton, told the Governor of the region how the research was conducted by.

"Now we are focused on Northern Kazakhstan. We have just finished the work in Kostanay region. Our company carries out exploration works of mineral sands, development of projects, production, marketing and successfully rehabilitates the areas where it conducts its work", Tony Thornton informed.

The Governor of the region was interested in when the first results will be known.

According to Tony Thornton, they are expected for the winter. And, if geological prospecting will find mineral sands, then a plant for their processing will be built on this site.
