According to the Governor’s Office of the region, in order to ensure the settlements of the region with quality drinking water, a large amount of work is carried out within the framework of the Program for the Development of Regions until 2020. Under the program, it is planned to provide centralized water supply to 97 per cent of city residents and 62 per cent of rural population until 2020.
Construction of 268 facilities was conducted in the amount of 73.9 billion tenge in this direction, in the period from 2011 to 2016, thus 469 thousand people from 178 settlements were provided with a new centralized water supply system.
"In the direction of providing the population with drinking water, region’s indicator in providing cities' residents is 92.9% in the country, for settlements 55.6%. South-Kazakhstan region among cities occupies the 9th place in the country, and among settlements – the 4th place. So, the indicator outlined in the program for 2020 is overfulfilled ahead of schedule", the message says.
Along with this, construction works are being carried out, 4.7 billion tenge was allocated from the republican and regional budgets for these purposes this year in 25 settlements of the region. Among them, 5 settlements will be provided with a new water supply system, and the water supply system will be updated in 3 settlements. Construction work in the remaining 17 settlements is planned to be completed in 2018.
Governor of the region Zhanseit Tuimebayev ordered to systematize the works in order to provide drinking water and pay attention to the targeted expenditure of the allocated funds.
