In her welcome speech, Gulshara Abdykalikova stressed the words of Nursultan Nazarbayev said at the presentation of the first 18 textbooks in the framework of the project "New Humanitarian Knowledge. 100 new textbooks in the Kazakh language": "New textbooks are an exclusive humanitarian library. It will be accessible to all people in three formats: in the form of ordinary paper books, in electronic online versions and in the format of a video library of open lectures from the best lecturers".
The Secretary of State noted that a significant cultural event takes place in the year of the 20th anniversary of the capital of Kazakhstan. Today Astana is not only a national symbol of the country but also one of the recognized centers of Eurasia.
"In the age of globalization and digital technology, a book, as before, remains the main source of new knowledge. It is a great instrument of knowing everything", the Secretary of State said.
During the years of Independence of Kazakhstan almost 81 thousand titles of books with a total circulation of about 400 million copies were issued. Only in 2010 more than 10 billion tenge was allocated for book publishing. Today, the publishing industry is represented by 380 companies.
Representatives of 155 companies and organizations from 18 countries of the world participate in the exhibition this year. Among them there are such famous publishing houses: the Russian "Nauka", "Kurtiak and Ley Artistic Publishing House" from Poland and others. Also, about 120 cultural and business events will be held.
During the visit to the Eurasian Book Fair-2018, the Secretary of State of Kazakhstan familiarized with the expositions of the books and wished all the participants to expand their creative and business contacts and make great progress in their chosen field.
