The Congress brought together the international and Kazakh experts. This year's congress focuses on four areas important for Kazakhstan: energy, new materials, information and communication technologies (automation, robotics, digitalization), deep processing in the agricultural sector. The Congress was organized by "National Agency for Technological Development" with the support of the Ministry for Investment and Development. The Congress brought together the international and Kazakh experts, government representatives and local executive authorities, heads of the national holdings and national companies, development institutions, research institutes and key actors of the national innovation system.
Minister of Education and Science Yerlan Sagadiyev opened the international meeting stressing that the international experience is very important for Kazakhstan in search of new solutions in the field of technological entrepreneurship opportunities.
"On behalf of President's order two strategic innovation clusters in Astana and Almaty cities are working on the formation of the necessary ecosystem for the innovative entrepreneurship. We hope that the upcoming exhibition EXPO-2017 will bring significant results in terms of innovation development in the coming years. We understand that improving the competitiveness of the domestic enterprises in the international market requires the constant attraction of new knowledge and technology transfer. Therefore, the international cooperation and consultation with experts in the field of technology and innovation in Kazakhstan is very important to search for new solutions and opportunities for the growth", the Minister said.
The program of the Congress includes a plenary session on "The role of innovation in the second five-year plan of the SPIID", panel sessions "International experience of key technology development" and "Development of "clean technologies" within the concept of EXPO-2017 "Energy of Future". To hold the congress the reputable international organizations and institutions in the field of the public policy, economics and innovation are attracted.
Among the speakers of the Congress there is winners of the Nobel Peace Prize (2007) Rae Kwon Chung, Klara Oren, creator of the leading Israeli business incubator "L.N. Innovative Technologies ", head of the Japan Technology Group Mitsu Yamamoto, director of the Representative of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Kazakhstan Thomas Helm, director of the Kazakhstan USAID program to curb climate change Alexei Sankovski.
