284km of new water supply networks to be put into use in Almaty

Within the working inspection, Mayor of Almaty Baurzhan Baibek inspected the progress of the reconstruction of the engineering and transport infrastructure of the city. The Mayor of the city paid attention of the developers to the necessity to ensure the qualitative road pavement and the improvement of the adjacent territory after the reconstruction works.

According to the Mayor’s Office of the city, the repair of the heating networks is in the final stage and will be completed according to schedule before the start of the heating season.

Thus, the completion of works with the improvement of road is scheduled for October 10 on the reconstructed site of Tole bi Street along the Sayran reservoir and the sections of Masanchi, Kazybek bi Streets.

On the sections of Baishev and Tobayakov Streets the full completion of the technical part is planned by October 12.

Since September 20, traffic has opened on the reconstructed bridge along Abai Avenue through the Esentai River. Overhaul of the bridge, built in 1964 and which is in an emergency condition, allowed to expand the road to six lanes. The installation of a new bridge, the concreting of the main river bed, the reorganization of networks, the installation of a barrier and perimeter fencing were carried out. Water-filled safety buffers are installed on both sides of the separation fence, designed to mitigate the impact in the event of an accident.

To date, work is under way on the construction of a pedestrian crossing under the bridge construction and improvement of the adjacent territory.

We remind that in the current year funds were allocated for the construction and repair of 32 km of sidewalks and 182 km of roads, the construction of 14.7 km and reconstruction of 42.2 km of irrigation networks in 57 streets, the construction and reconstruction of 317 km of urban water supply networks and 265 km of sewerage, 32 km of heating networks. Commissioning of 284 km of new water supply networks will make it possible to connect 35,000 residential houses to the centralized water supply, where more than 175,000 people live.
